Project name:
Gender and Energy
Project location:
Llera de Canales, Tamaulipas
We promote the empowerment of girls and young people in our neighboring communities. In support of this, we organized Gender and Energy workshops at K-12 schools in Mesa La Paz. The interactive workshops included discussions, art activities and a time of reflection about the issue. The themes covered in the workshops included:
- Gender roles
- Labor roles
- Inequality and discrimination
- Right to live a life without violence
- Relationship between gender and energy
Impact:
130+ school children between the ages of 10-19 across six local schools. 95% satisfaction rate reported in the post-workshop assessment. The key conclusions the students drew from the workshops included:
- Men and women should respect each other
- Even though men and women are physically different, they have the exact same rights and should not be discriminated or mistreated
